What began as Fright Nights in 1991 at Universal Studios Orlando has since inspired a multitude of events at theme parks around the nation centering on scaring its customers. Halloween offers a new marketing approach for theme parks willing to take it and more importantly, often offers a different demographic.
While places such as SeaWorld Orlando and Walt Disney World offer milder attractions and child proof events, Universal Studios Orlando, Universal Studios Hollywood (near Los Angeles) and Busch Gardens Theme Park in Tampa, FL take the Halloween experience to the extreme. From elaborate haunted houses to freakish actors roaming the streets, these theme parks take on a different life after dark.
While a majority of targeted marketing for these events focus on the local markets of Orlando, Tampa and Los Angeles, the attractions, haunted houses and other events have become so big that now this event is a deciding factor on when to visit these cities.
An out of town guest visiting a Halloween event will want transportation to enjoy the rest of what the city has to offer. So, a rental car is in order when visiting Tampa, Orlando or Los Angeles.
