About Fort Lauderdale, FL

A Florida vacation is an appealing prospect – but what city should you choose? With miles of beaches, an exciting downtown area and easy access to the Everglades, Fort Lauderdale is an exciting choice. No matter your particular interests, you’ll find something fascinating in Fort Lauderdale.

See the City

When you’re thinking of visiting Florida, beaches likely come to mind immediately. In this department, Fort Lauderdale doesn’t disappoint, with 23 miles of beautiful coastline. If you’re more adventurous, you can take a break from strolling along the shoreline and dive into the many shipwrecks nearby. Getting around in Fort Lauderdale also offers a nautical experience – waterways throughout the city are served by water taxis.

Stepping away from the water and going downtown reveals dozens of shopping, dining and nightlife options. If you’re interested in spending a day browsing for bargains, you’ll want to explore Swap Shop, the biggest flea market in the South. For a more style-focused shopping experience, you can walk along Las Olas Boulevard.

There’s a burgeoning craft brewing scene in Fort Lauderdale. Breweries, pubs and restaurants are all open for business up and down the coast. Catering to thirsty crowds in the year-round warm and sunny Florida weather, brewers have found great success in Fort Lauderdale, selling refreshing brews and offering tours of their locations.

Explore the Region

The Everglades stretch beyond the city of Fort Lauderdale, and there are plenty of ways to encounter nature. At Flamingo Gardens and the Wray Botanical collection, you can encounter the region’s birds, big cats, alligators and more. Butterfly World is the continent’s biggest butterfly aviator. Parks such as Mizell-Johnson State Park offer fishing, airboat rides and more.

Greater Fort Lauderdale is also a place to discover Florida Seminole culture. The Ah-Tah-Thi-Ki Museum, located on the Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation, is a gateway to age-old Seminole tribe traditions and home to thousands of historical items.

When considering Florida destinations, Fort Lauderdale has plenty to offer.
